In-House Laboratory

Our pets cannot tell us what’s wrong, and that’s why laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging are so important. But we do more than just offer you state-of-the-art diagnostic tests, we choose the tests that will guide us toward the perfect, tailor-made solution for your pet’s needs.

Our pet hospital is equipped with in-house laboratory testing. We can also perform urine and fecal tests, obtain various cytology or biopsy samples, and we utilize multiple reference laboratories for more specialized testing. We can also perform in-hospital testing for canine parvovirus, feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), feline leukemia (FeLV), pancreatitis, heartworm testing, and tick-borne diseases.

We are committed to providing accurate and timely lab results for the benefit of your pet thanks to our extensive in-house laboratory capabilities.

Flea and Parasite Control

While fleas, ticks, and heartworm can be a serious threat to your pet’s health, Advanced Pet Care can help you avert issues and diseases caused by these parasites.

Every examination includes a specific recommendation for which product is best suited for your pet’s environmental exposure. Our hospital carries Trifexis, Comfortis, Heartgard Plus, Nexgard, Revolution, Cheristin, and Capstar. With the exponential growth in heartworm cases diagnosed in the California area, as well as, the increasing number of tick-transmitted diseases being identified in our State, monthly parasite preventatives are critical for your pet’s health.

Fleas are small, jumping insects that live off of the blood of animals. They can carry dangerous diseases and will often cause allergic dermatitis ”severe itching” in pets.

Ticks are external parasites that live off of the bodily fluids of animals. They can carry diseases from one animal to another and are the main cause of the spread of diseases such as Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis/anaplasmosis, and Rocky Mountain spotted fever.

Heartworm is a parasite that can live in the heart of dogs and cats. Mosquitoes carry the worm from one infected animal to another. Several hundred worms can live in the heart of a dog and infection from the parasite causes significant damage and can be fatal.

When it comes to your pet’s health, prevention is key.

Microchipping
The chance of being reunited with a lost pet increases greatly if they’re microchipped. Microchipping can offer reassurance that, if lost, animal shelters and veterinarians can identify your pet. A tiny microchip is placed under the skin between your pet’s shoulder blades. The microchip has an identification number on it, which can be read by a scanner. A veterinarian’s office or animal shelter can scan the chip to find out who owns the animal.
Wellness Programs
From the first visit and throughout their entire life, we’ll be there to provide the absolute best care for your pet. Our wellness care measures can maximize the fullness of that life both in terms of what your pet can do and for how long. Annual physical exams are important! Many of our younger patients have annual exams, but for aging pets or those who have medical conditions, we recommend exams every six months.
Digital Radiology (X-Ray)

There have been many advancements in digital x-ray technology, and we can now manipulate the digital images that we take. This allows us to diagnose issues that may not be seen on a traditional x-ray. Because the x-rays are digital, we can also easily share the images with specialists or other veterinarians we may consult for more difficult cases.

In-House Pharmacy
Whether your pet is in need of a prescription medication or diet, you won’t have to go far. Our in-house pharmacy allows you to fill your pet’s prescriptions during your appointment so you don’t have to spend time waiting.
Boarding

Whether you are going out of town for vacation or business, we know it is hard to leave your pet. The guilt and stress over it make it even more difficult. Nobody ever wants to leave their baby – but imagine if your pet gets to go and stay with people that treat them like their own!

The Advanced Pet Care team is here to keep your four-legged family members safe, happy, and comfortable during their stay. Our facilities include clean, climate-controlled, and raised dog runs and kitty condos available for your furry companion year-round.

Spay & Neuter

We provide surgical options in a clean and safe environment. Most importantly, our veterinary team can closely track each animal’s vital condition during surgery.

Over 13 million pets are put to death in our nation’s animal shelters each year for lack of homes. That is why responsible pet owners make sure that their pets are not contributing to this serious over-population problem. In addition to preventing overpopulation, there are also health risks that are reduced by spaying and neutering.

Dental Cleaning
According to the American Veterinary Dental Society, 70% of adult cats and 80% of adult dogs show symptoms of oral disease? Don’t let your pets become part of this statistic!
Just as it’s important for you to see a dentist regularly, it’s important for dogs and cats as well. Your pet’s oral health is directly connected to their overall health. Signs of dental disease include bad breath, loose, broken or missing teeth, yellow or brown teeth, red, inflamed or bleeding gums, difficulty or pain when chewing, pawing at the mouth, and excessive drooling. If you notice any of these symptoms, please contact our team and we’ll be happy to help.
